This is a great all day event for our young athletes who wish to compete but in a protected environment. They compete with a partner for a maximum of 2 events plus the relay. They do not have to compete with the same partner for both events. The combined score of the partners is added together to give the final total for each event. Medals are awarded to the top 3, who then automatically qualify to represent the club at the National Team Championships, should they wish to compete at a higher level. Athletes can compete in a short distance (60/80m), a long distance (300/500/600m), Long Jump, High Jump, Turbo Javelin, Shot Putt and 4 x 100m relay.

NATIONAL OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS is the pinnacle track and field event for all athletes who qualified out of the Dublin Competition. Athletes compete in Tullamore in their event against the winners from the other provinces. There are a number of days of events and Athletes who qualify into NATIONALS have achieved something special and should be proud as we are of their achievement. All athletes who qualify into Nationals have their name put on a hoodie which can be bought at the event as a memento of the day.
DUBLIN CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE The Cross Country League (U9 – U18) is held on 3 x Sundays between September and December. The courses are generally in different locations around Dublin . The distance of each league will increase throughout the programme. Each athlete will be awarded 10 points for each race when they cross the finish line, and the first 20 will be awarded extra points. Points are accumulated over the course of the three events. This is a fun event (if the weather is kind!) and has a great team atmosphere. Athletes are recommended to wear 9mm spikes for these events. This league is NOT a qualifier for the Nationals and athletes do not need to pre-register for this event.
.DUBLIN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS & NATIONALS
The Dublin Cross Country Championships are held on two separate Sundays according to athletes’ ages. Athletes can compete in their own age group, AND can run one year above their age. Athletes do not need to have competed in the League in order to compete at the Championships. The Championships are both a team event (up to 6 members) and an individual event. The top 12 individuals per age group qualify for the Nationals, and receive medals. In the Team event, the first 4 athletes from a club to cross the finish line are awarded points according to their position. The 4 clubs with the best scores will be awarded team medals, and the whole team can then compete at the Nationals. The Dublin Cross Country Championships is for U9s upwards, however, it is only a qualifier for the Nationals for U11s up. Athletes must pre-register with the club for this event.
