It was a wild and windy day for the first day of the National Athletic Championships and it was the turn of our younger athletes with the paired team games and some events for our U12 and U13 athletes. We had a variety of entrants across track and field and everyone performed very well. Congratulations to everyone who qualified for Nationals as this is a fantastic achievement. Particular congratulations to our U12 athlete Joshua Holme who won a Bronze National medal in 2 events - Sprint & Long jump.
Update from the Dublin Outdoor Championships 2023 We are all just over 7 Days of Competition across a variety of Dublin locations. This year once again we had a fantastic number of athletes compete across track and field events. Congratulations to all our athletes who represented our club so well and had great days out with their other club mates. Athletes from all our age groups represented the club and we would like to thank them plus all our hard working parents who helped officiate at those events and contribute to the great day out all our athletes experienced. These are some highlights :-
We had 30 of our younger athletes compete in the Team Championships across Track and Field events winning 10 medals overall.
Athletes in the U12-U19 age group competed and won medals across all the track and field events including the Hammer event which was tried for the first time and in which our athlete Holly Helme won a silver on her first outing.
The club won a total of 44 medals - 13 gold, 16 Silver and 15 Bronze plus numerous 4th places, Personal Bests and new events tried.
This is an excellent result for the club, the Dublin Championships are widely contested with large numbers in all events and winning a medal is a great achievement.
Many of our athletes have made it to the National Championshipswhich take place in Tullamore during July. We continue coaching our athletes so that they are well prepared for their competition. Getting to the National Club Championships is something our athletes should be very proud of and we will keep you all posted on how these days of competition go.
